What is the process to be an affiliate member?
Sporting organisations interested to be an affiliate member will be provided with assistance to develop a safeguarding framework within their sporting community. These are the stages which organisations usually undergo:
Stages | Description | Rationale |
---|---|---|
Stage 1 | Risk Assessment Exercise | By going through the risk assessment exercise, organisations will be able to identify the gaps and needs in areas of concerns. For example, whether the organisation needs to revise its digital communication policy. |
Stage 2 | Onboarding Session | This in-person session will be used to review the results of the risk assessment exercise. The session will be facilitated by the Safe Sport Commission and attended by the key personnel of the organisation (e.g., staff who oversees the policy direction and implementation of safeguarding guidelines). |
Stage 3 | Developing a Safe Sport Policy | After the onboarding session, the organisation can work on the Safe Sport Policy to develop/revise the guidelines relevant to their organisation. |
Stage 4 | Training and Education | Key stakeholders (e.g., coaches, staff, athletes, parents, volunteers) can undergo training/workshop sessions to increase their awareness of Safe Sport. Organisations can also send representatives to be trained as a Safeguarding Officer. |
